Spring/Summer 2009 Jewelry Essentials – Clip-On Earrings
Earrings are THE accessory for Spring and Summer 2009. This season, they are worn big. Stunning dangling earrings, huge chunky earrings of head-turning proportions adorn the ears this season.
Actually, earrings were never out. The right earrings flatter a woman’s features. Chic women would wear earrings most of the time.
Pierced ears aren’t absolutely necessary in order for you to wear earrings. There are always clip-ons. Though relatively hard to find, clip-on earrings offer several advantages over the usual post earrings meant for pierced ears.
For one thing, anyone can wear clip on earrings. Even the needle phobic. Whether your ear are pierced or not, you can always clip them on and enjoy the face flattering benefits earrings offer. If you never did pierce your ears because you find the holes there when you aren’t wearing earrings, kind of ugly, then clip-ons are your best bet. You get to wear earrings without have the piercings in your ear lobes.
Somehow, earrings make quite a difference to the way a woman looks. Sparkling gems on the ears make eyes sparkle. The glow of gold or silver, the metal the stone might be set in, reflects light on the wearer’s face, making her look more radiant. Pearls and other such materials used in gemstones make skin look more luminous. That is the beauty of earrings. They bring out the wearer’s innate beauty.
Back to this season’s offerings. The ones on the catwalk may or may not be clip-ons but this season’s styles as clip ons would be a wiser choice than the regular pierced earrings. Large, dangly earrings weight down the ear lobe and pull down the piercing, turning that neat hole into an ugly slit. Even if the earrings are light, dangly earrings that swing around as you move your head would still tug at the ear piercing, making the hole bigger and more obvious. Pretty soon, those little stud earrings won’t sit well on you ear lobe anymore as the hole’s gotten too big.
With clip on earrings, the piercing, if any, won’t be stretched as the earrings are simply clipped on to the ear lobe and not supported via the piercing. You don’t get ugly slits with clip on earrings.
Hence, if you love this season’s look, go ahead and wear those stunning earrings, but do make them clip on earrings.
Button and Bows – Celebrate Full-Figured Fashion
There was a time when women had to make all of their own clothes. Patterns were passed down from mother to daughter, and girls learned homemaking arts from the earliest days of childhood. Those days are long gone, of course. Sadly, they sometimes seem to have taken the sought-after, turn-of-the-century appreciation for the full figured goddess with them. (How ridiculous!) There is simply no denying the allure of a naturally curvy woman.
Women have a seemingly endless list of responsibilities these days – and dreams to go with them. We are students, executives, business owners, administrators – and, oh yes – wives, mothers and homemakers. And while fashion is a vital part of the fabric of our lives – from the most slender to the plus size fashionista – there are very few of us who still know how to sew a dress. But buy a dress and appreciate the great artistry of a hand-painted plus size blouse or the flair of an A-line skirt – now that’s an art we haven’t lost!
The art of designing great fashion is timeless and worldwide. From the islands of Tahiti to the Upper West Side of Manhattan, women of all ages and sizes express themselves in fabric and color every day of the week. The rebirth of plus size fashion is a revolution that is long overdue – from the plus size blouse (in every style and fabric imaginable) to plus size lingerie, full figured women are reclaiming their right to be sexy and stylish.
And why not? Fashion is fun and it is important! Finding the right fabrics and designs to wear from Monday to Friday and all weekend long is not easy. From work to play and don’t forget the soccer field…developing this personal style definitely takes on an extra special meaning for the plus size woman.
Ever chasing that elusive outfit to look ten pounds thinner, plus size women everywhere have been locked in a prison of dark colors and vertical stripes for far too long.
So what are the plus size fashionista’s of the world to do? Let’s start with throwing out all of the rules. First of all, who says we have to look thin??? Being full-figured is beautiful, no matter how you look at it. Dressing in an unending variety of black outfits as if we are grieving our own “thin” selves has to go. Instead, let’s start a new fashion trend. One where we don every color of the rainbow and celebrate life. Reds and yellows and pinks and yes, even the biggest fashion no-no – horizontal stripes!
Plus size women need to start a revolution and remind everyone that beautiful women come in all shapes and sizes! And that needs to start with US! Hit your favorite department store (or make it easy and go online!) and choose two or three great pieces to kick off the New Year. Grab your favorite silk or satin plus size blouse or a pair of great white denim jeans. Go for it! 2009 is YOUR year! Hey, why not?
Maternity Fall Fashion 2009
With everything constantly changing each season, (the leaves, your belly, the trends) it may be a bit hard to keep up. When a new style comes in for the season the Trend Setter doesn’t always accommodate for all the pregnant women. Most of the time our bellies won’t fit in all the cute new styles. So we have gathered up some tips for this fall so you can still look fashionably up to date.
A TAILORED JACKET There is a return to tailoring and sophistication this season. While we won’t do to well in a tailored waist dress, who said we can’t do a tailored jacket. Be sure to purchase a tailored maternity jacket since it will be the base point of every woman’s wardrobe this season. The great thing about a tailored maternity jacket is that it can give your wardrobe personality. It’s the thing you can build around. Tip: Mix it up with a fitted comfy dress or your favorite designer maternity jeans and some boots.
MASSIVE NECKLACES Well this is something we haven’t seen for quite some time. Necklaces with colored stones and crystals that are big, inventive and architectural. While most will be able to pull off these massive necklaces we need to be on the more careful side. We don’t want to wear anything that gives off too much attention because it will take away our belly. Tip: Look for more simple necklaces with medium to small sized stones and crystals.
TOP-HANDLED BAG If you change anything up this season be sure to replace your slouchy-pouchy hobo purse with a ladylike top-handled bag in a yummy fall tone of aubergine, putty, camel, dark green, or chocolate. It doesn‘t matter how much you spend on the bag just know that you have an on-trend must-have. Tip: If you’re like me and can’t seem to break your black bag habit, then at least try to choose a black with a little shine, a crackled finish, or some hardware that really lifts the black up.
BANGIN’ BOOTIES Whether it’s the scrunchy boot, a mid-calf, or an over-the-knee boot, we think the boot is the most important shoe of the season. We love them with heels, stilettos, or flats…we love them all. It’s really about a boot wardrobe this season. And it looks fantastic with every single item in your closet. Tip: Pair your boots with a flowy maternity dress.
A SENSATIONAL SHIRT No longer just for secretaries or 80’s working girl, the bow-neck shirt is a pretty way to freshen up for fall – provided you proceed with a healthy dose of fashion-forward. If you’re wearing a bow shirt, it shouldn’t be too conservative. You don‘t want to look like you‘re running for office. Look for a feminine and pretty version with small ruffles. Tip: Pair with an edgy boot or accessory.
THOU SHALT NOT’s
BABYDOLLS If it’s too voluminous, it needs to go. Put baby dolls in the back of the closet! Those need to go away for a while because we really are celebrating the natural shape of the body, curves and all, with a longer, leaner more tailored silhouette.
BIG PANTS While it’s a great season for trousers, not all pants need apply. Be sure that your pant doesn’t have too big of a flair.
FAB FLORALS, NOT PAINTERLY PRINTS The painterly splashes we saw were very much the print of the season, but obviously that’s a summer look, so put that back in the back as well. Switch them out for a lighter, more natural floral with a dark background so it looks more relevant to the colder weather.
